We transformed the Imagination Center from an unfinished space with inadequate storage — into a high-performance, multi-purpose space with whimsy and character. The Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy approached us to help solve several problems. First, how to organize, manage, and effectively use their programming supplies and equipment. Second, how to increase the usable life cycle of the Imagination Center. Our design organizes the myriad of storage items into coherent categories, provides custom storage solutions for some particularly persnickety items, and provides plenty of flexibility with how to storage much larger items. Adding insulation, lighting, and flexible electrical systems makes the Imagination Center into a three-season, day-and-night space, instead of a summer day-time only space.

We integrated a “remote office” for the DPPC, which can quickly get out of the way when programming is in full swing and supplies need to be moved in and out of the space.
